The ACT Government has established new standards for construction, cleaning, security and traffic management service providers that are tendering for ACT Government jobs.
The Code started on 15 January 2019 and sets out workplace standards required in the following areas:
pay and employment conditions
insurance, tax and superannuation
health and safety, including training and inductions
collective bargaining, freedom of association and representation rights.
To assess whether your business meets the requirements, you need to engage an approved auditor. The auditor will guide you through the assessment process and will facilitate your application with the Secure Local Jobs Code Registrar once the assessment is complete.
To determine if your business meets the Code, the auditor will require following information:
Business or Instalment Activity Statements, and ATO Business Portal activity (past 24 months)
Evidence of superannuation scheme payments (past 24 months)
ACT Long Service Leave Authority Certificate of Currency (if applicable)
Workers compensation insurance Certificate of Currency
Public liability insurance Certificate of Currency
ACT Payroll Tax returns (past 24 months, if applicable)
Enterprise Agreement or Modern Award
If the audit process is successful, a Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate is issued and confirms a business meets the standards in the Code. Businesses will need a Code Certificate before they tender for ACT Government jobs and for the duration of the project.
